Role of ARNP Designated Nurse Anesthetist in the Use of Fluoroscopy in the Performance of Pain Management

It was the advisory opinion of the Board that it is within the scope of the advanced registered nurse practitioner designated nurse anesthetist to use fluoroscopy during the performance of pain management procedures to confirm needle placement. The use of fluoroscopy is limited to this activity and should only be used when a radiation operator is available to operate the equipment. In addition, the ARNP should be educationally prepared through an established organized program and currently clinically competent in the utilization of fluoroscopy.
