National Certification Information

Effective October 14, 2008, The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services established new state or national certification rules governing Dialysis Technicians.  Federal Regulation 42 CFR 494.140 states all newly employed technicians must obtain certification within 18 months of hire date.  All currently employed technicians have 18 months from the effective date, October 14, 2008, to obtain certification.  Currently, Kentucky does not have a certification program; therefore, you must obtain certification from one of the three nationally recognized certification programs.  Additional programs may be added in the future with CMS approval. Click on the program of your choice below to review the requirements for obtaining their certification.  Please direct all questions for testing, recertification, and continuing education requirements to that specific program.
