The Kentucky Board of Nursing, located in Louisville, is seeking an Executive Director. The Executive Director serves as the agency head for the Kentucky Board of Nursing and is charged with the implementation of the Kentucky Nurse Practice Act for 73,000 licensed nurses.
Qualifications: 1) Licensed as a Registered Nurse in Kentucky or is eligible for licensure or temporary work permit
2) Minimal academic preparation is a Masters Degree or equivalent in nursing from an accredited university or college. A doctorate degree is preferred.
3) Five (5) years experience in the practice of nursing, administration and organizational management. At least two years in nursing administration experience immediately preceding the time of appointment.
4) Knowledge of nursing education and practice, administrative law, human resource management, public management, public policy and financial management.
5) Leadership ability, oral and written communication skills and human relations skills.
6) Knowledge and understanding of current nursing, health care and regulatory issues.

Nursing Practice/Education Consultant |

The Nurse Practice/Education Consultant provides professional work and consultative services on a statewide basis for regulation, practice and education matters related to nursing and other assistive personnel (RNs, LPNs, APRNs, DTs, etc.). The position is located in Louisville, KY and reports to the Executive Director of the Kentucky Board of Nursing.
Qualifications 1) Minimum requirement is a Master’s degree with a major in nursing.
2) Current Kentucky RN license or privilege to practice in Kentucky. Must maintain valid Kentucky RN license or practice privilege for length of employment in this classification.
3) Five years of progressively complex experience in nursing practice, administration and/or nursing supervision, teaching or administration of nursing education programs
Expectations 1) Interpretation of Kentucky statutes, regulations and guidelines for safe practice and education of nurses and assistive personnel.
2) Design and perform research and evaluation of Board initiatives and staff directed activities.
3) Act as a resource consultant of staff, Board members, and public entities related to assigned nursing programs and projects.
4) Prepare correspondence and coordinate projects related to public and private sector nursing committees and practices.
5) Conduct nurse education training and act as a liaison for KBN with a number of public and private entities on a state and national level.
6) Engages in public speaking as a representative of the Board.
7) Prepares written material for publication.
8) Other duties as assigned.
9) Occasional day and overnight travel are required.
