Licensure By Examination for Non-U.S.A. Educated Applicants

Effective August 1, 2011, all fingerprint cards and fees received at KBN will be returned to the applicant.  Initial fingerprint card and fee of $19.25 must be mailed to the Kentucky State Police at:

• Application and fee
  • If you have a Social Security Number (SSN), use the online application.
  • If you do not have a SSN, print the paper application request form [PDF Format - 96KB].
  • If you have a SSN and use the paper application it will be returned to you for the $40 paper application fee.

• State background check

• Federal background check

• Complete the Kentucky Jurisprudence Exam

  • Click on the Application Status to access the link to the exam
  • Go to Jurisprudence Examination for more information on the exam
    

• Pass NCLEX 

• Legal residency in the U.S.A.

• Copy of a valid U.S. SSN (before a license will be issued)

Before a Provisional License will be issued, KBN must receive:

• Copy of a VisaScreen® for Licensure 
  
• Proof of passing NCLEX 
  
• Notification from the Kentucky State Police that the fingerprint card & fee have been received
  
• Notification of completion of the Jurisprudence Exam
  
• Meet all other requirements for licensure by examination
